Mumbai News Live Updates: CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar rushed to Delhi on Friday afternoon to hold seat-sharing talks, amid reports that both allies of the BJP will be limited to single-digit seats in Maharashtra.

Mumbai News Live Updates: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that Union Roads Minister Nitin Gadkari will contest from Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. “Nitin Gadkari’s name will be first in the list of Maharashtra,” he said. Gadkari’s name did not feature in the first list owing to the BJP’s ongoing talks with alliance partners.

Meanwhile, CM Eknath Shinde from Shiv Sena and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar of the NCP rushed to Delhi on Friday afternoon to hold seat-sharing talks, amid reports that both allies of the BJP will be limited to single-digit seats in Maharashtra. Discontent among leaders of both the parties had been visible since Wednesday, following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit, when it was reported that the Sena will get only nine, and the NCP barely five Lok Sabha seats to contest out of 48 in Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said Mumbai civic commissioner (administrator) IS Chahal should be placed under suspension for the Gokhale bridge reconstruction fiasco as it had resulted in wastage of taxpayers’ money to the tune of several crore rupees. It was noticed after construction of the bridge over the tracks at Andheri station that it did not align with the connecting Barfiwala flyover that was built just over a decade ago.
